Chamunda Devi Mandir is believed to be the abode of 'Shiva and Shakti'. Due to this reason, it is also known as 'Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham'. The term 'Chamunda' has been derived from two words, 'Chanda' and 'Munda' two demons slained by the Godess.
