Day 10- Visit to Puri and Konark as on 23-Nov-2019

Jagannath Temple Puri is one of four pithas (important place for Hindus) along with Dwaraka, Rameshwaram and Badrinath.  Spent about 3 hours in the premises of the Jaganath Temple and also had delicious prasadam in an earthen pot. The market is good but could spent about 30-45 minutes. Need to visit this place once again and move around in this holy city.

Konark Sun Temple is a 13th-century CE sun temple dedicated to the Hindu god Surya, what remains of the temple complex has the appearance of a 100-foot (30 m) high chariot with immense wheels and horses, all carved from stone. The cause of the destruction of the Konark temple is unclear and remains a source o controversy. Theories range from natural damage to deliberate destruction of the temple in the course of being sacked several times by Muslim armies between the 15th and 17th centuries. The temple is classified as UNESCO's world heritage site.

  1. Missed visiting this place. After reading through the post remembered our plan in 2005 to visit the temple.
