Day-03 - Visit to Harihareshwar, Kelshi , Anjarle, Harne on 16-Mar-2014

Harihareshwar, Kelshi , Anjarle and Harne travel was through the green forest and coastal roads. Even we used the Veshvi-Bagmandala Ferry service to reach Bagmandala to cut the distance to Anjarle. Moving aroung in Konkan on coastal roads, temples  and beaches is always full of fun and enjoyment and gives ample opportunities relax and rejuvenate from the busy life of Thane-Mumbai.

Harihareshwar is surrounded by three hills named Harihareshwar, Harshinachal and Pushpadri. The river Savitri enters the Arabian Sea from the town of Harihareshwar. Towards the north of the town is the temple of Lord Harihareshwar, said to have been blessed by Lord Shiva. Hence Harihareshwar is often referred to as Dev-ghar or "house of God".

Besides a major pilgrimage center, Harihareshwar is a popular beach resort with two beaches, one to the north and the other to the south of the temple.

Kelshi is a small village in neighboring Dapoli and has got a scenic and unfamiliar beach. which is a very calm and quiet place. Deep forest and very narrow road will take you to the beach. Reached Kelshi in broad after noon with no one on the beach except we four.

Anjarle known for the Kadyawarcha Ganpati temple (MarathiGanapati on a cliff). This temple was originally constructed using wooden pillars ca. 1150. It was renovated between 1768 and 1780.  Very beautiful temple situated in the heart of beautiful nature. A view of sea and the beach with dense coconut and other tree is very very good. Lovely place to spent a few hours peacefully.

Harne Bander (Port) always reminded me of the novel 'Garambicha Bapu' by Shri Na Pendese. The port is a commercial center for fish market and also for supari market. We reached there a day before the holy and all the boats were decorated for the festival by fisherman.
